My client sent this article to me from the Boston Globe:

A study from Boston consultant firm Cone finds that almost 60 percent of Americans interact with companies on a social media website, and one in four interact more than once per week.
According to the 2008 Cone Business in Social Media Study, 93 percent of Americans believe a company should have a presence in social media, while an overwhelming 85 percent believe a company…

Will be interested to see how much traffic this concept generates. The 'viral' strategy is solid, so will be fun to watch how this ramps in the coming months (I can imagine access to archived games from years past to be added if this really hits).

The Gridiron Greats Assistance fund is looking to launch their social community this August at an NFL Legends event. In our continuing partnership with the organization, Telligent was approached to add some additional functionality to the work we did back in February at Super Bowl XLII.
New features included:
Forums/Discussions - Ever wanted to ask Mike Ditka a question? Here's your chance.
Media Gallery - Don't just read about what's happening, see it for…

If you thought Community Server 2008.1 had some cool features, you haven't seen nothin' yet. In the new 2008.5 release, not only did we make enhancements to the forums module but we were able to squeeze in Wikis, an entire new component to the Community Server platform. That being said, this is not your traditional point release. The demand was too high to let this one slip into Q1 2009.
Before I dive into feature highlights, I would like to say thanks to all community members and… Continue

I was chatting with a friend of mine about the PR his startup had “fallen into.” They actually created a really cool iPhone application and people noticed. He was excited about the coverage, but while his company wants to be engaged with the media and users, he and his fellow entrepreneurs often find storytelling and driving the narrative around their brand takes a backseat to delivering product / shipping code. Product of course, is the right focus, but new social media tools are making the…

Does this scenario sound familiar?
My site is registered with the major search engines. I've been assured that it’s SEO-friendly, there's a good linking strategy in place, and we are testing banner advertising . . . but I’m not getting the traffic I was promised, and my visitors aren’t sticking around. What’s going on?
It's simple. You need more relevant content on your Web site!
Now listen carefully. I'm not saying you should scrap what you’re doing…

Not one week after Nike showed the world that sports 2.0 is a mass product (Nike Human Race with 500.000 contestants), five sports 2.0 enthusiasts in the Netherlands clearly raised the sports 2.0 bar. They participated in a 10K run whilst live broadcasting their whereabouts and live video streaming. All this with only a modern GPS & video enabled mobile handset and a very nice mash up site with videogadgets and google maps.

In the spring of this year, I started a sports business blog, appropriately named "The Business of Sports" (www.thebusinessofsports.com). I've revisted the blog in the past month and have begun updating it much more regulary. I'm hoping that the site can become an interesting resource for those in the industry, spawning ideas and discussion. If anything, it will be a fun side project. If you have a chance, please visit the site, let me know what you think, and maybe leave the occasional comment…
