Adobe/NFL Launch User Generated Highlight Reels Via Online Video Editor

Will be interested to see how much traffic this concept generates. The 'viral' strategy is solid, so will be fun to watch how this ramps in the coming months (I can imagine access to archived games from years past to be added if this really hits).

Community Server 2008.5, Not Your Traditional Point Release

If you thought Community Server 2008.1 had some cool features, you haven't seen nothin' yet. In the new 2008.5 release, not only did we make enhancements to the forums module but we were able to squeeze in Wikis, an entire new component to the Community Server platform. That being said, this is not your traditional point release. The demand was too high to let this one slip into Q1 2009.

Before I dive into feature highlights, I would like to say thanks to all community members and…

Social Media: Listen First

I was chatting with a friend of mine about the PR his startup had “fallen into.” They actually created a really cool iPhone application and people noticed. He was excited about the coverage, but while his company wants to be engaged with the media and users, he and his fellow entrepreneurs often find storytelling and driving the narrative around their brand takes a backseat to delivering product / shipping code. Product of course, is the right focus, but new social media tools are making the… Continue

Driving Traffic To Your Web Site Using Community Server

Does this scenario sound familiar?

My site is registered with the major search engines. I've been assured that it’s SEO-friendly, there's a good linking strategy in place, and we are testing banner advertising . . . but I’m not getting the traffic I was promised, and my visitors aren’t sticking around. What’s going on?

It's simple. You need more relevant content on your Web site!

Now listen carefully. I'm not saying you should scrap what you’re doing… Continue

Getting Started in Social Media

Running 2.0: a Dutch Experiment

Not one week after Nike showed the world that sports 2.0 is a mass product (Nike Human Race with 500.000 contestants), five sports 2.0 enthusiasts in the Netherlands clearly raised the sports 2.0 bar. They participated in a 10K run whilst live broadcasting their whereabouts and live video streaming. All this with only a modern GPS & video enabled mobile handset and a very nice mash up site with videogadgets and google maps.

Mashup… Continue

Steelers vs. Cowboys in social media co-opetition

Finally, two sports teams that get it! The Steelers face the Cowboys this Sunday in Dallas, and thanks to some clever work by each team’s digital crews, the franchises are competing in social media spheres as well. Steelers & Cowboys are evenly matched in both realms. Both teams have 7-6 records this season, and they’re [...]

Email Power Rankings for MLB teams

How did E mail become the “other” white meat? While everyone is going crazy over social media, I suspect Email is getting overlooked and underutilized by many professional sports teams. With this suspicion on my brain I set out recently to do a little research using baseball teams as my subjects. The results of my [...]

That’s right, fans don’t blame the team [...]

College fans like Twitter more than Facebook for sports

If America’s major universities want to engage avid sports fans during live events, they should pay more attention to Twitter than Facebook, and they should forget about Foursquare altogether; At least what our data seem to be saying. As part of our ongoing “Social Sports Poll,” we recently surveyed social media fans and followers of [...]
