Interesting development on sports event ticketing

I have just come across this site: http://www.zigabid.com/ at first glance it seems to be at odds with what the sports industry at the major tournament level are trying to enforce.

I am certain that every legal counsel known to sports bodies has crawled the terms and conditions.

Such a site could in the long term have serious impact on branding control, pricing and purchasing power. This might be a way off for now... But not too far away.

Will be interesti… Continue

Is having a bad boy good for web 2.0 sports marketing?

Over the years Sports teams have been striving to cut out the rogue elements at their clubs.

Some sports and teams achieve this fairly easily Rugby Union is a good example of a professional sport which has a small amount of negative publicity whilst its main competitor Rugby League lurches from one off field embarrassment to another.

Obviously a poor image is going to have a negative effect on certain aspects of your organisation. However in these days of viral marketing and the power this bri… Continue

Engaging the foreign legion

I am a Swansea City fan. Probably won't mean much to a whole lot of readers on here. They are a soccer team that plays in the English Championship (and playing well too!), I am also a fan of the Warringah Rats rugby union team who play in Sydney.

Why those teams? I grew up in Swansea, Wales but have moved to live in Sydney, Australia. I also suppost the Boston Celtics, Bruins, Red Sox and the NE Patriots, why? I lived there in 1992 whilst playing rugby for Beacon hill.

I follow the results of… Continue

Some sports people just don't get the web.

Most people reading this site will most likely not be too familiar with the A-League. This is the Australian national club football (soccer) championship. It is a competition that was formed 4 years ago.

The competition currently has 8 teams. This will increase to 10 from next season after a recent announcement.

Amazingly neither of the teams that are being accepted into the competition (namely 1. Gold Coast united; 2. North Queensland FC); have registe… Continue

Jeremy,

I saw your recent comment on a Finland team letting fans use text messaging to control substitutions, etc. I would love to feature this on PartnershipActivation.com - could you send along (bgainor@partnershipactivation.com) any details you might have on this? Thanks, and I look forward to connecting! - Brian

Hi Jeremy,
after we completely develop the infrastrucuture for succesfully offering e-learning for soccer coaches, we plan to use this format for other sports. So I am always open to talking with other sports content owners that might have the knowledge, people and content to provide education but lack the infrastructure in which to deliver it. Feel free to have your friend contact me if they are interested in further discussion. My email is timhorton@soccerinteractive.com.
Cheers

Hi Jeremy,
that is good to hear. Feel free to check out my website to see how we are delivering our curriculum using video and animation as well as our Exercise Planner and Interactive Chalkboard. We are about to do a redesign on the home page and the navigation to make the site easier to use as well as add a library tool. I would be happy to share any ideas or answer questions about what we have done to deliver online sports education. Looking forward to seeing your educational website.
Cheers
