"George Perry" the name associated with the world record largemouth caught on June 2, 1932 that weighed 22 pounds, four ounces -- a record
for over 7 1/2 decades, and a record some thought would never get broken. Well, it looks like it may have finally been broken. The previous Japanese bass record tipped the scales at 19.15 pounds, a fish that was caught by Kazuya Shimada from Lake Ikehara on April 22, 2003 on a swimbait.
Excelsior, Minn. - Fishing's "Marathon Man," Jeff Kolodzinski, will attempt to break his own Guinness World Record for most fish caught in a 24 hour period. Kolodzinski, V.P. of Marketing for Frabill - marquee event sponsor - established the distinctive World Record last year from the bustling docks of Maynard's on Lake Minnetonka by landing a staggering 1,680 fish. That's a lifetime's catch for some. Kolo, as he's known, did it in one rotation of the earth.
Houston, Texas - ICAST 2009 will feature a new, yet familiar look, as USA Custom Rods rolls out the world's first fully-camouflaged fishing rods...outfitted up in Mossy Oak® Camo.
Featuring the famous Breakup™, and Duck Blind™ patterns, as well as the popular new "Pink Camo" pattern, these rods are now available in seventeen different models.
Minnetonka, Minnesota- The Cabela's Masters Walleye Circuit (MWC) returns to the Bay of Green Bay out of the twin cities of Marinette, Wisconsin and Menominee, Michigan, July 11 and 12. This is the third time in five years the MWC has held a tournament in this area. Last year it took over 52 pounds to win this tournament, which is predicted to be in the running for the winning two day basket again this year. "I think you will see a five pound average," shared Don Frederick (part of the current Team of the Year and third place finishers at last year's event). "The bite was really good about a week ago before a cold front and northwest winds settled over the area and slowed everything down. Once the cold front moves out and it begins to warm up again, the fish will be more active and you will see some nice baskets on stage."
LeaseTrader.com surveyed people who are planning on enjoying a variety of recreation activities this summer. Given the recession, we wanted to know what activities people are planning and what types of vehicles they'll be driving to accommodate these activities. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information.
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will consider authorizing several property-related matters to improve public fishing and boating access in Erie, Venango and Lebanon counties when the agency holds its summer quarterly meeting on July 13-14 at its Harrisburg office.
The Idaho Fish and Game Commission Wednesday, July 1, changed the daily and possession limits for Chinook salmon in part of the Upper Salmon River, and opened a Chinook season in the Boise River.
The change affects the season in the Upper Salmon River from the city of Salmon upstream to the mouth of the Pahsimeroi River, and it allows anglers to keep Chinook salmon less than 24 inches total length.
At the end of fishing Tuesday, July 7, the South Fork Salmon River will close to harvest of adult Chinook salmon, 24 or more inches in total length.
Creel surveys show that nontribal anglers will have harvested all of the state's share of adult Chinook returning to the South Fork by the end of the day Tuesday. Anglers may still catch and keep Chinook jacks, less than 24 inches, until the end of fishing Friday, July 10, when the South Fork Salmon River closes to all Chinook salmon fishing.
Upper Salmon River: Open until further notice. Fishing hours are from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time.
* City of Salmon to Pahsimeroi River: from the cable car crossing at the USGS flow gauging station, about 150 yards downstream of Island Park in Salmon, upstream to the posted boundary at the mouth of the Pahsimeroi River. The daily limit is six salmon, but only two Chinook, 24 or more inches in total length, may be kept.

Though less glamorous, the redband trout, native to much of Idaho, is no less deserving of anglers' admiration than the state fish, the cutthroat trout, considered by many to be the crown jewel for fishing in the western U.S.
