Re-thinking sports marketing now that fans are in charge

Stanescu Simona

What are the main problems in sports marketing in your area?

In Romania the main problem is that sports marketing is just discovered but I am sure that in time sports marketing will grow. Very "hot" problems are: the lack of money, the decline of birth rate, emigration, the decline of children interest in sports in favor to other modern activities(like internet), the low number of sports hours in schools, the low number of sports facilities for the public or with a high price.

What are your main problems?

on my area the problem is that a small number of people of all the power, and has monopoly about everything, the region government and city hall protect these companies which are owned probably by 3 or 4 people, who all they have is money and a third generation link with early entrepreneur.

Burgundy is engrained with non-sharing of business and passive corruption by the local government. Hence the local rate of consulting companies is below the national average.

So even doing your sports marketing job, you bounced off by people who don"t want you because of your background.

it is really a matter of people protecting their market against any competitor, the local government vice-president, just add more and more hurdles based on wrong facts to discourage me by using obvious wrong argument for me to close any sponsorship sale... It is fraud. And it is in Burgundy.

About the power that a small number of people have i guess that this happens everywhere. Here we have also the same problems.
I think that you are happy enough to talk about a sports marketing industry. Here the things are going very very hard and i am just working on starting a website about sports marketing - and not only.
In college we don't study this domain- it is more like a little part of marketing of services or social marketing.
I hope that I can be a little part of what sports marketing should be, here, in my country.

I think that we should fight for the way things are supposed to be and not let anything or anyone stop us. :)
