Sports Marketing 2.0

Re-thinking sports marketing now that fans are in charge

Hi, all. Would love some feedback. We've developed a service that lets an individual rapidly create, deploy and manage mobile-based apps and widgets for brands, orgs, associations and events. We've had a lot of success in the traditional "brand" area, as well as events. It would seem like Sports Marketing would be a great fit, but it's not an industry we're experts in. Would love any feedback, suggestions, or critiques on how we might make this leap.

In particular:

- Who are the right folks to talk to? Teams? Leagues? Someone else?
- What other "fan-oriented" apps are out there that we might partner with?
- How do sponsors fit into the mix, vis-a-vis the teams themselves?

We've done some cool things like this iPhone and widget app we launched yesterday for Change.gov, and it seems like sports communities could be another great venue. Any/all insight and constructive criticism is appreciated...Thanks!
